As an author, I am proud of my first book: Brave Green World, which I co-authored with Claire Asher, a free lance scientific communicator, under MIT Press. It has sold over three thousand copies and it has been translated into French and Italian.  I am working on my second book, and a kid’s book.

As a scientist, I’m interested in the intersection of computation, non-equilibrium physics, additive manufacturing and biological systems. I believe that we can construct a form of in materio computation that will lead to a novel form of non-equilibrium additive manufacturing. Since I left academia I work on this in my spare time. I have several ideas for a public academy of science, so that anyone in the world can contribute to and publish science free of charge, not just tenured professors at higher education institutions.  More.

As a musician, I’ve been in one band or other since I was 18.  Right now I jam in my neighbors barn across the street! A little blue grass band. It’s a lot of fun.
